Peter Millett
Maleng Regional Justice Center
Individual geometric sculptures form a collection for a place familiar to the artist.
When 4Culture asked artist Peter Millett to compose a selection of his sculptures for a fourth-floor courtroom at the Maleng Regional Justice Center, he already knew the environment well, having worked as a courtroom sketch artist for many years. Millett approaches each of his forms individually, not as a group; however, these 10 are Blue Nose, Red Spinner, Red Heart, Orange Window, The Insomniac, Leaping Fish, Harpoon Head, Pillow, Dark Triangle, Blue Nose, and Blue Axis Horizontal.

Based in Seattle, Millett makes metal and wood sculpture as well as works on paper, all of which share a focus on abstract geometric forms. He began exhibiting his work in the 1970s, which has been shown extensively throughout Washington and the Western United States, and in Japan, Hawaii, and Siberia. Millett draws inspiration from folk and Indigenous art forms he has observed on travels through the Americas, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
