Shipping my oars in the lee of a hemlock

This is where I look up
and do not fall into the wet sky,
because the trees catch me.
It rains, it rains so many little lakes.
The nuthatches perch in the dryness
of needles. I row, and row, until
I reach the rocky shore
of sky-damp joy.
