At the Ellis Island Immigration Station, April 1922 My Family’s First Passover Seder in America
After Lenin came to power,
they sewed money into their clothes,
left everything behind, boarded a train to Kiev,
then walked to Latvia. They sailed to Liverpool,
waited one year for their number and boarded the SS Baltic.
At the Seattle Sephardic Cemetery, I place small stones on their graves.
