Special Assistant – Moving Light Programmer/Theatrical Electrician

Position Summary
The Special Assistant Programmer/Theatrical Electrician programs moving lights for mainstage shows in the season. Working with the Head Electrician, Production Electrician and the Electrics Department, this role also participates in show prep, hang, maintenance, and repair of electrics equipment. Additional work may be available as a swing for show run crew.

This position is represented by IATSE, Local No. 15.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Program Moving Lights
• Work with Production Electrician to prep equipment for productions.
• Assisting the Head Electrician and Assistant Electrician by running small crews to accomplish specific tasks.
• Operating and maintaining department-related items and equipment including, but not limited to, lighting instruments and accessories, fog/haze/special effects machines, cable, lighting systems and networks.
• Turning on or off the stage power distribution panels in order to activate or deactivate a piece of equipment.
• Comply with all safety and security procedures related to the show and The 5th Avenue Theatre’s safety policies.
• Comply with the policies and procedures of The 5th Avenue Theatre, including personnel rules and collective bargaining agreements.
• Uphold the artistic standards and achieve the artistic vision of The 5th Avenue Theatre.
• Model and support the mission and values of The 5th Avenue Theatre.

Eligibility
Experience with EOS consoles (TI, ION), electrics positions, power tie-ins, LED/pixel tape, low voltage dimming, A/V. Team player and independent. Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD/Vectorworks, Lightwright, Google apps. Read scaled drawings. Strong communication skills. Program and stand up to 14 hours/day. Lift/move 20-40 lbs. Stooping, bending, reaching, sitting. Work at heights from ladders or lifts. Train on head and fall protection strategies at The 5th Avenue Theatre.
