Gallery4Culture 2007-2008 Season
Garret Keith Quiet Riot
November 1 - 30, 2007
reception NOVEMBER 1, 2007, 6 – 8 p.m.
Gallery4Culture is pleased to new paintings by Seattle artist Garret Keith.
There is a simplicity in the process of randomly reordered strips of painted polypropylene on paper that belie the complexity of these paintings. The forms may suggest cartoon explosions, pixilated landscapes or structure in nature, yet the underlying beauty of the color and pattern is the strength of the work. The process of cutting and pasting is real not digital, purposely avoiding a technical perfection. Keith is a formalist at heart, but the shifting optical perception that is created in the work gives the paintings an elegant subversive quality.
A reception will be held on November 1, 2007, the first Thursday of the month, during the Downtown Artwalk, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. The public is encouraged to attend. The exhibition will run from November 1 – November 30, 2007.
