Archipelago
September 7 - 29, 2006

reception SEPTEMBER 7, 2006, 6 - 8 p.m.

Gallery4Culture is pleased to present a new series of works in ink and watercolor by Seattle artist Tim Cross.

Archipelago is a series of conversations of images. Overlapping ideas are clashing and sharing information; words and phrases are being exchanged. Whether it's a mundane happening, or an interesting or even eye-opening exchange, these conversations are always building on one another to communicate an experience.

The contrast between the representational renderings and the abstract forms add layers of ambiguity. There are elements of history, moments from the present, and fragments of the future, truths and fictions. Cross' fine draftsmanship using paper, canvas, watercolor, black and colored inks, liquids paper, coffee, juices and matches is the thread that holds this work together.

A reception will be held on September 7, 2006, the first Thursday of the month, during the Downtown Artwalk, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend. The exhibition will run from September 7 - 29, 2006.

Gallery4Culture is located within 4Culture offices at 101 Prefontaine Pl S, at the corner of Third and Prefontaine, in the Tashiro/Kaplan Building. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., closed government holidays; the gallery is open and free to the public. For more information about this program call 206.296.8674.
